Robert Redford

Robert Redford was born in 1936 and is an ardent conservationist and environmentalist, an artist, businessman and a supporter of uncompromised creative expression. He received an Academy Award for his directorial debut ORDINARY PEOPLE (1980) and an honorary Academy Award celebrating his life’s work (2001). Redford is being lauded for his critically acclaimed, tour de force performance in ALL IS LOST (2013) and has recently completed filming on Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (2014). Ever passionate about independent filmmaking, Redford founded the Sundance Institute and highly regarded Sundance Film Festival, which are dedicated to the support and development of emerging screenwriters and directors, and to the national and international exhibition of new independent cinema.

Laura Michalchyshyn

Laura Michalchyshyn is the President and co-Founder with Robert Redford of Sundance Productions. She is a producer, programmer, and television executive who, for nearly twenty years, has been programming and managing cable channels in the U.S. and Canada. Established in April 2012, Sundance Productions works with the best talent, collaborators and partners to produce authentic, entertaining and unique content for U.S. and international markets. During her career Laura has commissioned hundreds of hours of scripted and non-scripted content and has worked in senior executive and creative leadership roles at Sundance Channel, Discovery Communications and Alliance Atlantis.

Most recently, Sundance Productions produced Chicagoland (CNN), Death Row Stories (CNN), Cathedrals of Culture (Berlin Film Festival), The March (PBS) and Emmy Nominee All The President’s Men Revisited (Discovery). She has also overseen and produced many original domestic and international series, including Iconoclasts, The Fabulous Beekman Boys, and Trailer Park Boys among others.

Laura Michalchyshyn has won two News and Documentary Emmys, an IDA Award and an Environmental Media Association Award.
